ARCHERY MULE DEER
Late August starts the early bow season for Mule Deer. This season is concurrent with most bow elk areas. This is a great opportunity to combo Mule Deer and Elk if you are fortunate to draw an elk tag. Mule Deer in the early season will be in the velvet, many will be batching in the in the high meadows as their antlers are soft and keeping them out of the heavy brush.
January brings in the late bow season for Mule Deer. This is the rut hunt when the big bucks come out of the rough canyons and backcountry in search of does. Although the weather may be cold and snowy, this may be the only time of the year these big bucks are accessible to a hunter.
MUZZLELOADER MULE DEER
Most muzzleloader deer seasons are late September or late October which can be combined with elk or bear. There are also some draw tags for the late muzzleloader season, which is a great time of the year to take the trophy Muley. Plus you may use scoped in lines and sabots to help increase your chance of taking a trophy buck.
RIFLE MULE DEER
November brings in the rifle deer season. Most of the other hunts are over by now and the woods are quite. With a little luck and some good backcountry, a trace of snow and some serious glassing a trophy can appear. Bring a flat shooting rifle with a good scope, as the country is big and can require some long shooting to take an illusive Muley buck.
